Tim Navin knew there were questions floating out there about Seaford boys lacrosse heading into the season.

“Everyone didn’t know Seaford, how they were going to be coming off last year, first-round loss,” the senior attackman said. “I knew the whole time the boys were going to pull together and be good. We’re dangerous this year. We play as a family.”

This was one happy family in the fading sun over Seaford’s turf on Wednesday.

Navin and Peter Barone delivered three goals and one assist apiece. Jake Anzelone scored twice and dominated at the faceoff X. And the Nassau Class C/D champion Vikings beat Floral Park, 15-6.

That meant they had completed the regular season undefeated in the conference at 12-0. They’re 12-4 overall heading into the county’s Class C tournament, including three one-goal losses.

“The boys worked hard the whole time and believed in themselves, and they showed it today, for sure,” Seaford coach Brian Horner said.

“ . . . We’re young, but were a young team last year that got experience. A lot of these guys play year-round and a lot of them have been playing together for a very long time.”

Wantagh, a Power League team that will be in the C playoffs, handed the Vikings their lone one-sided setback, 20-6.

Horner said there are “a lot of tough teams,” and that “in the playoffs, anything can happen.”

Anzelone, a standout Navy-bound senior defender with offensive and faceoff skills as well, set a tone, winning the opening faceoff and then scoring 12 seconds in.

“He’s huge because even if he’s not winning the faceoffs, he’s so good at turning the ball over and getting it back,” Horner said.

Navin then set up Barone for a score. Will Peterson and Brian Falk followed with goals, and it was 4-0 after one quarter.

By halftime, it was 8-1.

Navin put in his three goals in the third, which ended at 14-3.

Steven Baranoski scored two of his four goals in the fourth for Floral Park. The Knights finished the regular season at 13-3 overall and 9-3 in the conference.

“It’s unbelievable,” coach Matt Povolny said. “I don’t think we’ve had 13 wins as a program since like 2007 . . . We only had five wins last year, so the improvement was definitely there. Regardless of the outcome today, we made the playoffs and are hoping to get a top-six seed and a bye into the second round.”
